Last Sunday the Golden Globes kicked off the red carpet season. I always look forward to critiquing the red carpet dress parades, and this year’s award nominees didn’t disappoint! My pick for best-dressed of the evening was actress Lupita Nyong’o wearing a modern minimalist red gown by Ralph Lauren. While some stylists discourage their clients from wearing red for fear of clashing with the carpet, I completely disagree! I think Lupita, Emma Watson, Amy Adams, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus all looked striking. Most crimson dresses can actually complement a red carpet, unless they are long sleeved.
An all red event can come off feeling a bit boudoir. Try mixing ruby red with dark burgundy, similar to what Amy Adams is wearing. The different shades will create depth and richness for your party decor. For a recent event, we mixed these rich red ruched Chameleon Chairs with burgundy and coral hues. Having the linens a touch lighter or a shade darker than the seating allows the chairs to shine.
After all, these chairs were made to steal the show!
